The nominees for the British Fashion Awards 2011 have been announced and Sarah Burton is nominated for the Designer of The Year Award.
The British born designer gained global praise when the Duchess of Cambridge wore Burton's Royal Wedding dress creation.
The nomination caps a remarkable year for Burton who was named creative director of the Alexander McQueen label in May last year, reports the Guardian.
Burton has done well to exhibit the creative influence McQueen had on her career, as her designs have been praised for rebooting the brand in a more feminine and elusive direction.
