Posted 11 October 2008 @ 12:16 pm GMT
A British woman and her daughter drowned late on Thursday in a flash flood in the Spanish region of Valencia, the local government said on Friday.
The women had tried to cross a gully on foot in the town of L'Olleria during torrential rains and were swept away at about 8 p.m. (7 p.m. British time), a spokeswoman for the Valencia government said, adding there were no further details. Newspaper El Pais said the deceased mother was 47 years old and her daughter 14 and that they had been living in the area and were on their way home at the time.
