Chelsea transfer news: Didier Drogba wants to stay at Chelsea, his PR company insist
Didier Drogba's PR Company have insisted that the Chelsea striker is not demanding £6 million per year in wages, as contract talks continue with the Blues.
Drogba's current deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in the summer, and the Ivory Coast international told numerous news sources last week that he hoped to stay rather than find a new club this summer.
Chelsea have also made it clear that they hope to keep Drogba on board, despite the hitman competing with the likes of Fernando Torres for a spot up front.
But reports in the Daily Mail today suggested otherwise, saying that Drogba is demanding up to £6 million per year after tax for his services, and is shopping to other clubs as he makes a decision over his future.
The Sports PR Company, who represent the likes of Theo Walcott, Petr Cech, Patrice Evra and Drogba, insist that the Chelsea star was very clear last week on where his future lies, and the reports in the national paper couldn't be further from the truth.
"Please note that this [Daily Mail] story regarding Didier Drogba is complete nonsense," the company communicated through their Twitter account.
"Didier spoke very clearly last week to The Sun, Telegraph & BBC about his future."
Drogba's future with Chelsea has been under the microscope for some time; particularly since Torres' £50 million purchase in January last year.
But after playing for Chelsea for almost eight years, the 33 year old has continually maintained that he is committed to the club's future, and wants to be a part of the side as they rebuild under manager Andre Villas-Boas.
