White Supremacist Klanklannon Hacks Trayvon Martin's Email and Facebook Accounts
A white supremacist in the United States claims to have hacked the e-mail account of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teenager who was shot dead in Florida, and leaked his private Facebook messages to smear him.
The hacker, who goes by the name of Klanklannon, posted on an anarchic site called 4chan what are believed to be Martin's private Facebook messages. They are arranged in four slides that back the argument used by racist critics of Trayvon that he deserved to be killed by George Zimmerman for being a thief, drug addict and drug dealer.
A slide titled "Trayvon Martin Used Marijuana Habitually," features an exchange between Trayvon and a friend about getting high, according to Gawker website. Another one, "Trayvon Martin was a Drug Dealer" supposedly presents evidence of Martin dealing in drugs.
The hacked messages, whose content cannot be verified independently, were also passed around on the message boards of neo-Nazi hate forum Stormfront, founded by Don Black a white supremacist.
In February, the IBTimes UK revealed that emails hacked by Anonymous and belonging to the nationalist American Third Position Party (A3P) showed alleged links between Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul and Stormfront. According to the email, Paul received financial support from white groups such as Stormfront. Black told the New York Times that Paul's newsletter had inspired him to become a supporter.
Klanklannon also published a list of usernames and passwords for Martin's social media and email accounts. All of the passwords had been modified into racist slurs.
The hacker did not include Martin's emails in his leak. Gawker said that this was probably because they show nothing but a picture of "a normal high school junior preparing for college".
Many emails are about career aptitude tests and scholarship applications and reveal Martin's interest in aeronautics.
