Researchers from the University of Central Florida and Yale University have discovered ancient Peruvian bones in Florida.

The bones date back 1200 to 1400 years and among them are two skulls, one that of a 10-year-old boy, and the other that of an elderly man.

The mysterious bones were accidently found in January by a plumber. When he went to install a pool, suddenly a piece of bone popped up and he called the police.

The officials initially believed that recently someone could have committed a brutal murder. Later when researchers examined the remains, they found the bones were more than 1,000 years old.

"The bones, it turned out, had a lengthier history than the 30 years or so since they were buried in Florida. When x-rayed by the medical examiner's office, it was clear that the bones were hundreds of years old, and that the human tissue on the cheek of the skull had been mummified. The skulls featured an "Inca bone," a telltale sign of a human from the Incan culture of Peru," ABC news quoted Jan Garavaglia, medical examiner in Florida, as saying.

Along with the bones, researchers found textiles, some pieces of pottery and a piece of a newsletter dated 1978.

The property where the bones were found used to be a migrant camp. Researchers suggest that the skulls could have been handed down from generation to generation and then brought over here when migrant workers moved to Florida. Not knowing what to do with them, someone generations later could have buried them at the spot, thinking they would never be found, according to a report in My Fox Orlando.

Researchers are still baffled as to how Peruvians landed up in Florida. They believe that some more research will give them a clearer idea.
