Fans of Katy Perry will see the singer in an entirely new avatar, in her forthcoming 3D documentary Part of Me. The singer/actress is usually known for multi-coloured wigs, loud nail colours and flashy make-up, all of which she will eschew in the film.

"Katy is rarely spotted without layers of heavy cosmetics and often sports brightly coloured hair. But she allowed herself to be filmed without a scrap of make-up and with her dark hair scraped back from her face as she went for a wardrobe fitting backstage at her show. The natural look suited the pretty star, who let cameras follow her around for the new movie, which is part-biopic, part-concert film," The Sun reported.

"When you see the film, it's a bit scary because there are a lot of shots of me bloated with zits and normal... I think it's important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world...So that's why I decided to put everything into the film. So that's why I decided to put everything into the film, in the most tasteful way. But mostly it's about how I go there and the ride along the way which can be bumpy but mostly it was extremely fun," Perry said, while on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Meanwhile, Russell Brand, Perry's estranged husband, admitted, on the show, he still loved his ex-wife. Perry, however, was more diplomatic.

"I thought it was important to show everything in between. I think sometimes people think that we're perfect and we know we're not perfect, at all. I think it's important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dreams, you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world. So that's why I decided to put everything into the film. In the most tasteful way. It's about how I got there and the ride along the way, which can be bumpy. But mostly, it was extremely fun" Perry said.

The documentary features Brand as well and there were reports he'd asked his contributions to be cut out after the couple split.

"When she first decided to make the movie in 2010, Russell agreed to be filmed on the condition he got to see the final edit. Being a fly-on-the-wall documentary, he knew full well that it was going to be warts and all - and wasn't best comfortable with that. But Katy persuaded him to do it. Now they have broken up, she can keep whatever she wants in the film," a source told The Sun.

Incidentally, Brand had earlier tweeted a photograph of a distinctly make-up-less Perry, when the two were together. Apparently the singer was mad at him for doing so but the two later made up.
