Check out how HTC's One X+ fares against the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Display
HTC's newly announced One X+, like the One X, features a 4.7in Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen. The resolution of the screen measures 720 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. The screen has protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Another key feature of the One X+'s display is that it uses HTC Sense user interface (UI) v4+.
Samsung's flagship smartphone, Galaxy S3 features a 4.8in HD Super AMOLED display. The screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and features TouchWiz UI. The resolution of Galaxy S3's display is similar to that of the One X+ but has less pixel density at 306ppi.
Dimension
The One X+ measures 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9mm whereas the Galaxy S3 measures 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm in thickness. The One X+ is only two grams heavier than the Galaxy S3 at 135g.
Operating System
The One X+ will run on Jelly Bean once it comes out of the box. There is no official word on the Android software version.
The Galaxy S3 was first launched with Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Keeping its promise, Samsung has begun official Jelly Bean (Android v4.1.1) update for the global version of the Galaxy S3 starting from Poland. The Jelly Bean update will be rolled out to other regions gradually.
Processor
The One X+ is powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 (AP37) chip featuring a quad-core processor. A notable difference between the processor of One X and One X+ is CPU clock speed; the One X's (Nvidia Tegra 3) quad-core processor is clocked at 1.5GHz whereas the OneX+'s processor runs at a clock speed of 1.7GHz. The One X+ is said to enable quicker web browsing, fluid gaming, graphic rendering and speedy downloads.
The Galaxy S3 runs with Samsung Exynos 4412 chip featuring a quad-core processor which runs with a clock speed of 1.4GHz. IBTimes UK earlier reported suggesting the procedures to increase the CPU clock speed of Galaxy S3. Both phones have 1GB of RAM.
Camera
The One X+, like the One X, features an eight megapixel rear-camera with technologies including auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection, touch focus, simultaneous HD video and image recording. The camera can record video in 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps). The front-facing camera of One X+ has more resolution than the One X's at 1.6megapixel which can record video in 720pat 30fps. HTC claims that the newly launched self-portrait mode on the front-camera allows users to capture high quality photos by detecting the human face at various angles and at the same time applies subtle enhancement to skin and eyes.
The Galaxy S3 has an eight megapixel rear-camera with almost similar camera technologies like the One X+. The camera can capture video in 1080p at 30 fps. The handset also has a rear-camera of 1.9 megapixel which can record video in 720p at 30fps. The front-facing camera of the Galaxy S3 has a feature called Smart Stay that recognises when the user is looking at the screen and locks when the user is looking away.

The Galaxy S3 offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and EDR. The device supports HSDPA and HSUPA data speeds. Both Galaxy S3 and One X+ are NFC enabled devices.
The major difference between the two smartphones in terms of connectivity is the Galaxy S3 supports 4G networks speeds whereas the One X+ does not.
Storage
The One X+ will come with huge storage options at 32GB and 64GB.
The Galaxy S3 is at present available in two storage options of 16GB and 32GB. While unveiling the Galaxy S3, Samsung promised that a 64GB version of the device would be available later this year. The Galaxy S3 supports microSD card for storage expansion- a storage feature which the One X+ lacks.
Battery
The One X+ and the Galaxy S3 both use a similar powered battery at 2100mAh. HTC notes that the battery being used in the One X+ will provide 50 per cent (six hours) more talk time and longer time for browsing as well as listening to music and watching videos.
