Megan Stammers' Teacher Jeremy Forrest Returns to UK
The teacher arrested on suspicion of child abduction after running away to France with schoolgirl Megan Stammers has returned to the UK.
Jeremy Forrest, 30, from East Sussex, was arrested in Bordeaux in September after allegedly taking the 15-year-old from Dover to Calais.
The arrest followed the issuing of a European Arrest Warrant.
Forrest, a maths teacher at Bishop Bell C of E School where Megan is a pupil, had not been fighting extradition and agreed to begin the process at the court of appeal.
Forrest's lawyer, Phil Smith, said outside the court that his client was looking forward to the "full story" coming out.
Megan was flown back to the UK and returned to her mother Danielle Wilson and stepfather Martin Stammers.
The alarm was raised when she failed to turn up to school one morning. It later emerged that she and Forrest had boarded a ferry but not used the return tickets.
The pair were spotted on CCTV on a cross-Channel ferry and their images were broadcast on French TV.
