Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 Gets Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update via CyanogenMod 10.1 M3 Nightly ROM [How to Install]
AOSP-based CyanogenMod 10.1 M3 Nightly ROM brings fast and stable Android experience for Galaxy Tab 2 P5100 users
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 users can now enjoy the latest AOSP build of Android 4.2.2 firmware, thanks to the release of CyanogenMod 10.1 M3 (CM10.1 M3) Nightly custom ROM. The AOSP-based custom ROM reportedly provides a very fast and stable Android experience to the user.
Another noteworthy feature of the new CM10.1 M3 ROM is it brings the look and feel of Nexus 10 interface with a stock Android launcher minus the TouchWiz user interface (UI). P5100 users can now relish a bug-free custom ROM that promises pure (stock) Android experience with no compromise in either speed or performance.
Key Points to Note
- CyanogenMod 10.1 M3 Nightly ROM and the instructions given in this guide are applicable to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 model only. Verify the device's model number by navigating to Settings > About Tablet.
- Verify that the correct USB drivers are installed for the tablet on computer (download Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 USB drivers)
- Back up important data and settings on the phone via one of the recommended custom recovery tools such as ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP, as it creates a complete image of the existing tablet setup.
- Make sure USB Debugging mode is enabled on the tablet by navigating to Settings > Developer Options (if device is running Android 4.0 or later) or Settings > Application > Development (if tablet is running Android 2.3 or earlier).
- Ensure the device has at least 80 percent battery charge to prevent unexpected device shutdown (due to battery drain) while installing the custom firmware.
- Double check to see that the device is factory unlocked (not locked to a specific carrier) and rooted with CWM recovery installed.
- Do a Dalvik Cache Wipe before continuing from recovery mode. This will prevent boot loop issues and boot ROM errors while installing the firmware.
- Your phone will not be recognised by Samsung KIES after installing the Nightly ROM, as it is a custom release.
- The instructions provided in this guide are meant for reference purpose only. IBTimes UK will not be held liable if device is damaged or bricked during or after the firmware installation. Users are advised to proceed at their own risk.
