Chelsea Defender in Talks with PSV Ahead of Proposed Summer Move
The agent of Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma has confirmed that he is in talks with representatives from PSV Eindhoven over a possible move to the Dutch giants.
Bruma began his youth career at Feyenoord before being signed by Chelsea when he was just 15 years old. He impressed in the youth academy and was included in the first team squad for a Champions League game against Porto back in 2009.
He made his Premier League debut in a 5-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in the same year but struggled to force his way regularly into the first team and was eventually sent on loan to Leicester City in February 2011.
Bruma scored two goals in his 11 appearances for the club and was then sent out on a season long loan to Hamburg in order for him to continue gaining regular first team experience.
The 21 year old has spent the last two seasons at the German side but they decided against making his move a permanent one and it had been expected that he would see out the remaining one year on his Chelsea contract in west London.
However, it now seems that he is close to a return to his homeland, with his agent Jan de Visser telling Voetbal international that he has already opened negotiations with officials from PSV.
"It was a first meeting. We will listen to each other," said de Visser. "I expect there are other sides interested as well but we are curious about the plans for next season."
PSV are building under a new manager having confirmed that former midfielder Phillip Cocu will once again take the reins after Dick Advocaat made the decision to step down as manager.
Cocu previously had a spell in charge of the Dutch club as caretaker manager and was keen to promote youth as he handed exciting young forward Memphis Depay his first team debut.
Bruma would certainly hope that he could make an early impression on Cocu after struggling to make any sort of impact under several manager at Chelsea during his six years at the club.
