Eintract Frankfurt are one of five clubs that have managed to agree a deal with Arsenal to sign out-of-favour striker Nicklas Bendtner.

Various reports in Denmark claim that the Gunners are determined to offload the striker this summer and have accepted numerous offers but it is Frankfurt who have emerged as the favourites to complete a deal.

The Mirror states that the German club sent their sporting director Bruno Hübner to Arsenal's London Colney training ground last month in order to try and thrash out a deal for the 25 year old.

Frankfurt are said to be waiting for a response as it seems likely that Arsenal will consider all of the bids before deciding which offer is eventually accepted.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be keen to strike Bendtner from the wage bill as it has been clear that the striker's future lies away from the Emirates. He has spent the last two seasons on-loan at Sunderland and then Italian champions Juventus.

It was a forgettable spell at Juventus where he failed to score a single league goal but it seems there are still plenty of clubs willing to take a chance on the striker.

While Bendtner looks certain to depart north London one of his former teammates has completed a move away from Arsenal. Andrey Arshavin failed to earn a new contract and has now been signed by former club Zenit St. Petersburg on a two year contract.

The 32 year old failed to live up to the expectation that was placed on his shoulders when he arrived for £15m back in January 2009. The Russian spent five years in England, although he did return to Zenit for a loan spell in 2012.

"One of the best footballers in Russia of the last decade is returning to his home city," declared Zenit in a statement.

Arshavin was one of 14 players not offered a new contract by the Gunners this summer as Wenger looks to make significant changes to a squad that only scraped into fourth place last season and failed to deliver a trophy.
