Bale Purchase Will Allow Arsenal To Sign Madrid Winger For €30m – Report
Real Madrid are keen to sell Angel di Maria to Arsenal for €30m as they attempt to sacrifice the winger in order to help fund a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale.
The Spanish giants are on the verge of completing a deal for Bale who will likely become the most expensive player in the history of the game when he finally completes his protracted move to the Bernabeu.
Reports suggest that the final transfer fee could be in excess of €90m, leading Madrid to listen to offers for Di Maria who would likely struggle to force his way into the first team when Bale arrives.
Madrid have already received €40m for the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, while fellow forward Jose Callejon also joined the Italian outfit for €10m as defender Raul Albiol moved to Naples for €12m.
Spanish newspaper Marca report that Madrid will now look to offer Di Maria to Arsenal in order to secure another €30m, meaning that these four players will have funded the deal for Bale.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with Di Maria and teammate Mesut Ozil in recent days but the German midfielder made his intentions to remain at the club clear.
However, should Madrid decide to make Di Maria available then it is likely that Arsenal would be interested in signing the Argentina international, especially with the news that Lukas Podolski will be out of action for close to ten weeks.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that the German forward's hamstring injury was worse than first believed and that he may not return to action until November.
The north London club have been heavily criticised by supporters for failing to land a big name in the transfer window, with Wenger having missed out on the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez.
With Podolski ruled out through injury Wenger is short of attacking options and Di Maria would certainly help address that issue.
The 25 year old produced a man of the match display in the recent 1-0 win over Granada and stated that his intention was to remain at the club, however, this could be out of his hands if the powers that be decide to cash-in.
