Fans get emotional over Mel B's heartbreaking post for her father: 'I just wanted one last hug'

In a touching Instagram post, former Spice Girl Mel B remembered her late father Martin Brown, who died earlier this year. Unfortunately for the British singer, the tragic loss of her father came at a time when she is still embroiled in a bitter divorce and custody drama following the end of her marriage with ex Stephen Belafonte.

Amid the chaos, however, Scary Spice took a moment off on Tuesday (1 August) to pay tribute to her father. Sharing a memorable throwback picture of Martin and herself on social media, the 42-year-old singer went on to pour her heart out in an emotional message.

"I just wanted one last hug and for you to know how much I really love you," Mel B wrote and followed up with a couple of tags like, "#ripdad #daddysgirl #mostimportantmaninmylife #inoyourwithmestill"

Following a cancer battle, Mel B's father died at the age of 63 in March this year – around the same time the mother-of-three filed for divorce from Belafonte, ending her near 10-year marriage. The songstress even flew back to her home town of Leeds, UK, along with her children for her father's funeral.

Since the loss, the Spice Girl has taken to social media to express her grief through emotional posts.

And unsurprisingly, her loyalists have been more than supportive, flocking to the comments section to share encouraging words.

"Sorry for your loss. The loss of a parent is an indescribable pain. I hope you find comfort in your memories of him! May he RIP. Sending love to you!" one user commented on Mel's photo with her dad.

Another praised Martin for doing a wonderful job at being a father to the popular star, saying, "He raised a strong and talented woman!"

"It's so hard to lose a loved one but now he's always by your side watching you and keeping you safe. I'm so sorry but God blessed you with a great dad," a third fan said, as someone else sent prayers to get her through the rough year.

"Geez! It's not right for a #SpiceGirl to have this hard a year! #prayers Mel b!!!" wrote the fan.

Mel B filed a restraining order against her ex earlier in the year, listing a catalogue of physical abuse and other complaints against Belafonte.
