While working for the company he continued to press his ideas about the tremendous potential of expanding the Starbucks enterprise all over America. He also gave ideas to serve fresh brewed coffee, espresso and cappuccino from Starbucks beans in their stores. In 1985, he left Starbucks and started a new company II Giornale and in 1987 the company acquired Starbucks. By 1990, Starbucks gained profits. In 2000, Howard became Starbucks chief global strategist. When Schultz regained his job as CEO in early 2008, Starbucks' profits and revenues were going down due to the economic crisis. Schultz followed his principle of back-to-basics, focus to the company. His second coming saved Starbucks from being just another also-ran.
