Gary Anderson defeats Phil Taylor 7-6 to win PDC darts world title
Gary Anderson claimed his maiden world title after defeating 16-time champion Phil Taylor 7-6 in a dramatic final at Alexandra Palace.
The Scot stormed into a 3-1 set lead before Taylor staged a dramatic comeback to lead 4-3 and looked favourite to win a record 17th world crown.
Anderson, the 2011 runner-up, turned things around, winning the next three sets to put himself on the brink of the title.
Requiring a 170 check-out to become the 2015 champion Anderson faltered, allowing Taylor to square the match at 6-6, leaving the Flying Scotsman to consider a missed opportunity.
However, after breaking Taylor by claiming the first two legs of the deciding set, Anderson took the title with a flourish to become Scotland's first darts world champion.
