Glee Star Charice Pempengco Cancels Singapore Concert Following Murder of Her Father
Glee Star, Charice Pempengco has pulled out of a concert in Singapore following the stabbing of her father in the Phillippines.
The singer apologised to her fans but felt assured they would understand the reasons why she couldn't perform.
She said: "I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert," she said in a post on Tuesday on Twitter. "I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family."
Her father was only 40 and was apparently stabbed him with an ice pick in the chest and back.
A manhunt is underway with a 20,000 peso (£295) reward for information leading to the man's arrest.
Her father was a construction worker named Ricky Pempengco and police believe the murder suspect to have been a homeless man who became violent after Pempengco brushed past him in the street.
Charice's relationship with her father was well documented in the local media after Ricky left the family home when Charice was young.
She tweeted: ""I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all."
The 19-year-old Philippines born singer is widely known throughout Asia from performing in concerts and TV talent shows.
