Google Pixel users complain of image bug in screenshots sent from iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
Some users suggest the problem could be with the latest Android 7.1 OS.
Some Google Pixel owners are encountering a peculiar image bug that distorts screenshots sent to the device. Users say the distorted images appear only when the screen shot is sent from an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.
On the Pixel User Community, several users have reported the same issue under the topic, "Screenshot from iPhone texted to Pixel don't render correctly". Users say the screenshots are mostly of SMS/MMS apps or from Google Hangouts.
"I can confirm the same thing happens to me. I am a Pixel XL user and have received these distorted screenshots sent from both iPhone 7 and 7 Plus," Jesse Ericksen, one of many of the device users, complained of the issue.
Some users said that the screenshots apparently only get the dimension and colour distortion within an iPhone app, and not if the screenshot is taken from the iPhone's home screen. Native apps as well as third party apps were affected in the same manner. However, the error does not seem to occur in reverse, with screenshots sent from a Pixel to an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus.
Since Google Pixel phones are the only devices to get the Android 7.1 pre-loaded, the problem could be due to the latest version of Android, some users suggested. A user who possesses an older Nexus 6 running 7.1, via an AOSP-based custom ROM reported the same issue indicating that it may be an OS issue rather than device-based.
Google is reportedly aware of the issue but there has been no indication of a software fix for the same.
