Coronation Street welcomes back Helen Flanagan, but how long for?
Actress has been away from the cobbles for five years.
Helen Flanagan's life has somewhat imitated art, as she has appeared on national TV (I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! ), had a daughter Matilda, with footballer partner Scott Sinclair and been subjected to a frightening burglary in her Cheshire home. However, the actress is now set to leave the drama of real life behind for a Coronation Street comeback.
The 26-year-old will be returning to the cobbles as hellraiser Rosie Webster after a five-year break – and she will begin filming at the end of the year.
Remarking on her return to Weatherfield, Flanagan said: "I'm so excited to be returning to Coronation Street and being part of the Webster family again."
But things may not be as 'rosy' as they seem upon her return. Viewers will be reunited with Rosie in February, when she surprises her parents and sister Sophie, who is returning from their trip to Miami.
Coincidentally, Rosie left the cobbles to star in a fictitious reality television show in February 2012. Though mum Sally has headed off to visit her on numerous occasions, the soap favourite has not returned until now. Corrie producers are keeping Flanagan's storyline detail under wraps, but they have claimed that her visit will not be short of drama.
Flanagan will be on screen until the spring, so a permanent comeback seems unlikely for now. She commented: "I'm so excited to be returning to Coronation Street and being part of the Webster family again."
Coronation Street producer Kate Oates said: "The Websters have missed Rosie and so have we. With Sophie away on holiday with her sister it seemed like the ideal time to bring Rosie back home with her for a visit. We are delighted that Helen is as keen explore what Rosie has been up to away from the cobbles as we are."
Flanagan's co-star Brooke Vincent appeared excited about her return, tweeting today:
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
