Navy unveils 'Ghost Swimmer' robot fish
The Office of Naval Research has unveiled a "Ghost Swimmer" vehicle to explore possible uses for a biomimetic device.
The US Military has experience in the field of biomimicry, which is when technology steals designs from nature. In the case of the Chief of Naval Operations' Rapid Innovation Cell project Silent NEMO, the drone is designed to look and swim like a real fish moving a tail side to side in the water.
The device is five feet long (1.5m) and weighs 100 pounds (45.4 kg) and the size of an average tuna fish, according to reports.
