Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan Sacks Nine Ministers
First major cabinet reshuffle since Nigerian president won election two years ago
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked nine ministers.
The leader's administration has removed the ministers of foreign affairs, education, science and technology, housing and urban development, national planning, and environment among others.
The controversial move is said to be part of a major cabinet reshuffle. It will be the government's first since the Goodluck administration won the general election two years ago.
Among those fired were foreign affairs minister Olugbenga Ashiru, education minister Ruqayat Rufai, and the minister of power Zainab Kunchi.
"They will be replaced but not immediately," a presidency spokesman said.
