Nigerian Singer D'banj Named African Ambassador for Apple's Beats by Dre
Nigerian singer D'banj has been named the official African ambassador for Beats by Dre.
The earphones company acquired by Apple in May for $3bn, announced the news on its official twitter page.
The company also took the opportunity to congratulate D'banj, whose real name is Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, on achieving 10 years in the music industry.
The former Mo Hits star, who is now signed to Kanye west's Good Music Label, will act as a spokesperson for the earphones giant and is also expected to appear in advertising campaigns.
To sweeten the deal D'banj gets his own custom-made earphones, which will be officially launched in December 2014.
Taking to twitter, D'banj couldn't hide his excitement.
News of D'banj's new role come just days after he delivered a rousing speech about using agriculture to both end poverty and empower youths at the TedxWBG conference in Houston.
D'banj, whose hits include Oliver Twist and Fall In Love, is also Nigeria's first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace.
