Roger Federer takes on Andy Murray in the evening session on day five at the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena in London.

Where to Watch

Roger Federer v Andy Murray is live on Sky Sports HD3 and BBC Radio Five Live Sports Extra from 8pm.

Preview

Federer and Murray renew their rivalry and what is likely to be a straight shoot out for the final place in the semi-finals. Victory for Nishikori against Raonic, particularly in straight sets means the victor in the evening match will reach the last four.

The six-time champion Federer actually only needs to win one set in his 23rd career match against Murray to guarantee qualification regardless of what happens in the earlier match and will only face elimination if both Nishikori and the Briton win in two sets.

Murray, who kept his hopes alive with an impressive win over Raonic on Tuesday, will know what he needs to do to reach the semi-final but could require a first straight sets win over Federer since 2012.

Both players have each won 11 of their 22 previous meetings, with Federer having claiming victory in both their matches in 2014 and an epic contest awaits an expected capacity crowd of 19,000 at the O2 Arena.

What they said:

Roger Federer: "I think it's helpful to have qualified here before and to have experienced round‑robin play because it has a different taste to the knock‑out system the way we know it with the regular draw. You look ahead in the draw, you see maybe who you might play and all that."

Andy Murray: "For me it depends on the winner of the Nishikori/Raonic match. If Kei wins, then I need to beat Roger, it depends on the scoreline of that match with Kei and Raonic. If Raonic wins, then I know that all I need to do is win the match against Roger and I'll be through. I'm not going to know that until I get ready for the match because I can't predict the future."
