Overview
Federer started his Monte-Carlo Masters campaign with an easy win over Radek Stepanek on Wednesday.
The former World No 1 and 17-time Grand Slam winner knocked his 35-year-old opponent from Czech Republic out of the competition in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, needing just 52 minutes.
Meanwhile, Rosol needed 62 minutes to overcome 33-year-old French qualifier Michael Llodra, in the previous round on Wednesday.
The Czech Republican had little trouble but managed to Llodra at bay to emerge triumphant, 6-4, 6-4, in straight sets.
The winner of the clash between Federer and Rosol will face the winner between Fabio Fognini and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Federer holds a 1-0 lead over Rosol in overall meetings. The pair have never met in any Grand Slam event.
