Overview

Australia finally registered their first win of the competition, cruising past Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand 3-1 on 19 June. The Hockeyroos dominated the game right from the start not giving their rivals any space to manoeuvre.

Emily Smith, Jodie Kenny and Grace Stewart scored goals for the team taking them to third place on the points table with four points from two games played.

Their opponents Argentina too won their first game in the competition on 19 June, thrashing the US 4-1. Skipper Carla Rebecchi was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick to lead her team to second spot on the table.
