Where to Watch
The play is set to begin at 2pm BST. Real-time internet updates and live streaming link is available on ATP's official website.
Overview
Federer didn't need to break a sweat to reach the last four after his Taiwanese opponent in the quarterfinal, Lu Yen-hsun, withdrew from the tournament with a back injury on Friday.
However, he entertained the crowd by playing an exhibition match against Germany's Christopher Kas, who participated in the Men's Doubles competition alongside his compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber.
The 32-year-old Swiss maestro has only played one competitive game in Halle so far, which was his second round clash against Joao Sousa. After falling to a shock, 6-7 (8), defeat in the first set against the 25-year-old Portuguese, the 17-time Grand Slam winner responded strongly to win, 6-4, 6-2, in the subsequent sets.
Meanwhile, Nishikori advanced into the semi-final at the expense of Steve Johnson in the previous round, humbling the American, 6-1, 7-6 (4), in straight sets. The 24-year-old, who became the first Japanese to break into the top 10 last month, needed 80 minutes to achieve this feat.
Currently ranked 12th, Nishikori has already beaten Federer in the quarterfinal of the 2014 Miami Masters; and will be keen to register his third straight victory against the defending champion.
The winner of this clash will take on the winner between Alejandro Falla and Kohlschreiber in the final on Sunday.
