Turkey grenade depot blast kills 25
An explosion has ripped through military munitions storage in the central Turkish province of Afyon, killing 25 soldiers and wounding four others.
The footage shows the storage centre engulfed in flames, which spread to the surrounding area. Emergency services and fire-fighters battled to get the fire under control, as rescuers could not reach to soldiers, who remained trapped in the storage, because dozens of hand grenades were strewn around the area after the explosion.
The Environment Minister, Veysel Eroglu, said the explosion was most likely caused by an accident, and he ruled out terrorism. The wounded have been sent to a military hospital for treatment. No names have been released yet, but official sources said identification of those killed at the scene was impossible because of the force of the explosion.
