At least 16 people have died in severe floods in the Philippine capital, Manila. And, in one of the worst reported incidents, nine people are reported to have died in one family, including a three week old baby. They are believed to have died when a landslide hit their shanty home.

This footage shows the Philippine Red Cross rescuing some of the estimated 80,000 people who have been forced from their homes as torrential rain left low-lying areas under water. Soldiers and rescuers try to reach people stranded in their homes, but some are refusing to leave amid fears of looting. The country's disaster response agency has declared a state of emergency in four regions.

The devastation continued over in China as Typhoon Haikui hit yesterday, travelling at winds of 68 mph. Buildings and hectares farm land are submerged, stranding thousands of people. It is believed 1.5 million people have been evacuated. With hundreds of flights to and from Shanghai Airport being cancelled.

The current rain and floods are said to be the worst to hit the two countries since 2009. However, the state weather bureau has said that weather conditions may get better later this week.
