Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira score as Manchester United U21s hammer Oldham
Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira both got on the scoresheet for Manchester United's under-21s as they beat Oldham 4-0 in the Manchester Senior Cup. The young duo, who have both featured in the first-team this season, will be hoping their performances in the behind-closed-doors match at Carrington will have impressed manager Louis van Gaal.
Januzaj, who spent the first part of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, scored a brace for Warren Joyce's team, while the highly-rated Pereira, who was also left out of the 18-man squad against West Brom, found the net too.
They were joined on the scoresheet by another United youngster, Regan Poole, who made his first-team debut against FC Midtjylland in February. His strike marked his first goal for the Red Devils since arriving from Newport County in the summer.
The triumphant United team also featured Joel Pereira, Paddy McNair, Joe Riley and Donald Love, all of whom have been involved with the first team this season. Victory against Oldham means United will now play a semi-final against Bury.
Januzaj, meanwhile, has not started a game for the United first-team since being recalled from his loan spell by Van Gaal. And the 21-year-old Belgian will not be in the squad for the Europa League tie against Liverpool at Anfield on 10 March because he is cup-tied, having already featured in the competition for Dortmund.
