Cannes Film Festival 2013: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Looks Stunning on Red Carpet, Outshines Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor

Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan created a splash with her choice of outfits as she arrived at the Cannes Film Festival 2013.

The 39-year-old green-eyed beauty on her 12th consecutive year at the annual event finally slashed a series of unimpressive red carpet turnouts by Indian actors till day four of the event.

Often entitled as one of the most beautiful women in the world, Bachchan seldom disappoints fashion watchers. She wore a heavily embroidered black and gold Sabyasachi sari with a golden hair ornament to the 100 years of Indian cinema celebration where she was the Guest Of Honour.

For the screening of Inside Llewyn Davis, the brand ambassador for L'Oreal at Cannes, wore a black lace-print Elie Saab Spring 2013 Couture gown, which a few publications point out, is quite similar to her last year's Elie Saab dark grey belted dress.

Keeping her hair and make-up simple, Bachchan looked absolutely stunning, outshining all other Indian actors who have failed to impress so far with most of their outfits largely being dull and over-sized. Bollywood actors Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor were disappointing in their very Bollywood themed wardrobe that understandably was in the honour of 100th year of Indian cinema.

Also upsetting was legendary actor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan's shimmering black suit, apart from actor Mallika Sherawat's plunging gown.

Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya arrived at Cannes on Friday. Though there were rumors that Bachchan will be walking the red carpet with her 18-month-old daughter, the actress was seen facing the paparazzi alone.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked a lot slimmer this year in comparison to last year when she was just recovering from her pregnancy.

The actresses' decision to take her time before she would return to her pre-pregnancy figure and her refusal to cater to the expectations to shed her post-partum weight immediately had resulted in a worldwide debate.
