The late Amy Winehouse's father Mitch Winehouse has revealed the cause of her death. She was apparently was trying to detox from alcohol and may have overdosed on a powerful anti-anxiety drug and suffered a seizure, he said.
Mitch Winehouse told CNN's Anderson Cooper that traces of the prescription drug Librium, also is used to treat withdrawal symptoms during detox from alcoholism, were found in his daughter's body.
"Everything Amy did, she did to excess," Mitch Winehouse said at a taping of Anderson Cooper's show Anderson, which debuts Monday. "She drank to excess and did detox to excess".
However he added that he was only speculating. The official cause of death is yet to be established.
