Angelina Jolie urged not to use 'children as weapons in divorce' from Brad Pitt
The actress's former nanny, Krisann Morel, sends emotional message to the Maleficent star.
Angelina Jolie's former nanny has alleged that the actress is using her children as a weapon against Brad Pitt. Krisann Morel, who served as the actress' nanny when she was a child, has urged her not to "demonise" the father of her children.
"I'm speaking out because I want to send a message to Angelina, who I care about very much. I want to tell her, 'Please don't cut Brad out of the children's lives. Don't use the children as weapons in your divorce. And don't demonize your husband'," she told Daily Mail.
In her message, 63-year-old Morel urged the mother-of-six not to repeat her own mother's past. Jolie's parents Marcheline Bertrand and Jon Voight separated in 1976 and got divorced in 1980. However, the former nanny claimed that due to her parent's divorce, Jolie had a "lonely and traumatic childhood".
"Because that is exactly what your mother did when she was breaking up with your father. And the result was you had a lonely and traumatic childhood. Why would you inflict the same tragedy on your kids? I am worried that Angie is repeating the past - repeating the same mistakes her mother made during her divorce - and I want to get this message across to her before it is too late," she told the news outlet.
The 41-year-old academy winning actress has been accused of blindsiding Pitt before filing for divorce. The Allied actor had an emotional reunion with some of his children on 8 October in the presence of personnel from the Department of Children Family Services.
While Jolie has filed for sole custody of her six children, the 52-year-old American actor is reportedly "desperate" to finalise a custody agreement with his estranged wife and wants equal custody. "Brad loves his children more than anything in this world, and they matter more than anything else to him. He will do whatever it takes to be with them, now and always," a source close to the actor told People magazine.
The UN humanitarian was spotted in Malibu on 16 October since filing for divorce and reportedly looked "happy and relaxed".
