Apple iPhone 5: Top Tips to Increase Battery Life
IBTimes UK offers some tips to extend the battery life of the iPhone 5
The Apple iPhone 5 has a battery of as yet unspecified capacity. However, the product page on the Apple website claims between eight and ten hours of use, depending on activity and the network used; and up to 40 hours of audio playback.
Could it be better? We think so. IBTimes UK has these tips to extend the battery life of the iPhone 5
- Reduce screen brightness (browse to Settings > Brightness and adjust). There is also the option to set this on an automatic setting (browse to Settings > Brightness > Auto-Brightness On).
- Turn Push Email function off, if not in use (browse to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and set Push Email to Off). Remaining connected to the wireless network consumes battery charge. The interval to fetch data rather than checking frequently can be increased (browse to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly).
- Some apps use Push Notifications by default and this drains the battery. To disable, browse to Settings > Notifications and disable notifications for chosen apps.
- Turn Location Services (like Maps) off when not in use (browse to Settings > Privacy > Location Services).
- Switch to Airplane Mode when low on battery or in an area with no network coverage (browse to Settings > Airplane Mode).
- Keep iPhone away from direct sunlight and other heat sources.
- Turn off services like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use. Also ensure Vibration Mode is turned off (browse to Settings > Sounds and set it to Off).
- Ensure iPhone is updated with latest software from Apple.
- Games are fun to play on the iPhone 5's 4in Retina Display screen, but remember they can consume large amounts of power.
