Arsenal injury news: England manager Roy Hodgson expects Jack Wilshere to be fit for Euro 2016 selection

England manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that he has information from Arsenal that Jack Wilshere will be back in good time and he will be available for selection in the European Championships scheduled for later this year. The 24-year-old missed the entirety of this season through injury and is only back for light training, which should make him eligible for a return before the end of the season.

Wilshere, despite his lack of appearances for Arsenal, has been a constant figure in the England line-up when fit and has put in a plethora of good performances, which has earned him four back-to-back man of the match titles for the Three Lions. Playing in a deep lying midfielder role for England, Wilshere has earned a lot of plaudits and Hodgson is not ready to give up on his star player despite his perceived lack of match fitness.

"Our information from Arsenal is that he (Wilshere) will be back in good time," Hodgson told Drivetime. "He is not guaranteed a place in the squad but I think his past performances merit a place in the squad.

"I think he played four games on the trot (for England) and was man of the match in all of them. He is a very decisive player for us, even to such an extent that he has changed our style of play. He can get the rest of the team playing and make things happen.

"I don't want to dismiss his chances but I accept that he has to be fit. I won't say about Jack what I said about Wayne Rooney."

Arsenal will also be hoping that Wilshere's prognosis is for the better, given they have nine massive games coming up in the league, which can make or break their title charge. Their injury count is also piling up with the game against Hull City ending with injuries to three key players by the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Gabriel. Meanwhile, Santi Cazorla has revealed that he will be back in contention just after the turn of this month.
