Arsenal are considering a move in signing Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko. He is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs and wants to join a top flight English club in the summer transfer window.
The Tyneside club finished 18th in the Premier League table last term and were relegated to the Championship. According to talkSPORT, the Magpies are resigned to losing their star midfielder after his impressive display for France in Euro 2016.
Sissoko was one of the key players in Didier Deschamps's side that lost to Portugal in the final of the European championship. His form for France saw him attract interest from several English clubs.
Crystal Palace manager, Alan Pardew, who mentored the 26-year-old at St James' Park, is keen on securing his former player's services. The Eagles are not the only club interested as the Gunners' arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are looking at landing him this summer.
Arsene Wenger's side are interested in the player and are ready to pay a fee of £20m ($26.4m) to Newcastle. However, the Championship club have increased their asking price after Sissoko's fine display for France in recently-concluded tournament in his homeland.
Newcastle are resigned to losing one of their star players following their relegation and will only part ways with Sissoko if the potential suitors can match their £35m ($46.8m) price tag. With the Emirates club now joining the race, they will face stiff competition from Liverpool, Tottenham and Palace for the midfielder's signature.
ESPN FC reports Liverpool and Juventus are looking at the option of signing Sissoko in the current transfer window. The Merseyside club are set to firm up their interest in signing the Newcastle star midfielder.
Sissoko has publicly expressed his admiration for Arsenal after the France international confirmed the Gunners are his dream club.
"It is very flattering. Arsenal is one of the best European teams. To be watched by that sort of club, that proves that you are a quality player. The beautiful Arsenal. We will see. I cannot tell you if I am going to go to Arsenal," Sissoko told FootMercato.
"Everyone knows, I often said it when I was young, Arsenal is the club of my heart, because there were quite a few French players there like Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sylvain Wiltord, Patrick Vieira who was my idol...
"I have advisors who manage all this and I hope everything will go well with minimal difficulty for me to find another club. I want to continue my career in England, at a club that plays in the Champions League because I think this best fits my style of play," he added.
