Madrid Winger Will Resist Arsenal and United Offers to Match Bale's Exploits - Report
Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria will resist offers from Manchester United and Arsenal this January to continue battling for a starting berth with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
The Argentina international found himself linked with a move to the Gunners during the latter stages of the summer transfer window, with manager Carlo Ancelotti later revealing he chose to retain the 25-year-old's services over those of Mesut Ozil's, who made his way to north London.
While many had assumed Di Maria's role in the Real Madrid starting XI would diminish following the record-breaking arrival of Bale and the imperious form of Ronaldo, the former Benfica star has appeared in 13 of the club's league games this season, starting 10 of those.
With his role in Ancelotti's first team plans still intact, Portuguese publication Abola report the winger will shun any renewed interest from the Premier League with David Moyes also reportedly monitoring the situation, in order to see out the second half of the 2013/14 at the Bernabeu.
However, Bale's increasingly prominent role for Real in recent weeks - marked by five goals and two assists in his last four games - has seen Di Maria's playing time reduced in recent weeks compared to during earlier stages of the season.
In a conflicting report, El Confidencial suggest that Di Maria has dispatched his agent Jorge Mendes to sound out the possibility of a move to free-spending Monaco when the transfer window reopens.
But given Real's continued participation in the Copa Del Rey and the knock out stages of the Champions League as they seek to reclaim the Spanish crown from Barcelona, the club are likely to be unwilling to part with someone who so far has proven to be an important member of Ancelotti's squad.
Di Maria's biggest impact for Los Blancos this season has come in the Champions League, where he has struck three goals and provided five assists en route to helping his side top their group.
