We Will Fight for Trophies Next Season, Says Arsenal Defender
Arsenal wing-back Andre Santos says he feels that the Gunners are focused on ending the season on a high and fight for titles next season.
The Brazilian also said that he is satisfied with the team's performance in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend.
"When it comes to a derby I think it was a good result - Chelsea are not an easy team to beat, they have excellent players. I congratulate our squad for their fight and now we need to work hard to carry on winning," Arsenal.com quoted the 29-year-old.
"We need to qualify for next year's Champions League. We need to finish well and carry on next year to compete for the title. This is a big club and deserves better. All we want are trophies," Santos added.
Kieran Gibbs has described the Gunners' remaining three Premier League fixtures as cup finals.
Arsenal are looking to finish third and win an automatic Champions League qualification for the next season. And despite having a three-point lead over its nearest rivals, Gibbs has asked his teammates to remain focused and try their best to win the remaining fixtures against Stoke City, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion.
"It has been tight all season. A lot of teams are competing and anything can happen. We have to finish the season strongly. The way we see it is that if we win our three games then we secure our position," Gibbs said.
"We have three cup finals left to play. We shouldn't lose focus now. We have nine points to win, and we have a position to secure for next season. We must do that," the 22-year-old stressed.
Arsenal are currently third in the league table with 65 points from 35 matches. Just below them are Newcastle United with 62 points and a game in hand. Tottenham and Chelsea have 59 and 58 points respectively from 34 matches as the four clubs battle for the remaining two Champions League spots.
Arsenal visit Stoke next Saturday as Newcastle travel to relegation battling Wigan.
