Arsenal and Spurs Tracking Atletico Striker - Report
Adrian enjoyed an impressive debut season at the Vicente Calderon last term, scoring 19 goals in 55 appearances in all competitions.
North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid forward Adrian.
The 24 year old enjoyed an impressive debut season at the Vicente Calderon last term, scoring 19 goals in 55 appearances in all competitions. The player attracted attention from several top European clubs throughout the summer and that has prompted the La Liga side to initiate new contract talks with the Spain international.
However, Adrian has yet to sign a new deal with Atletico and the news has caused increased interest from both Gunners and Spurs, claims talkSport. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that the forward has a £14.4m release clause in his present contract.
The forward recently declared he was happy to continue in Madrid and was delighted with Los Rojiblancos' start to the new season. The former Deprotivo La Coruna man feels Atletico can look forward to a superb year, if they can maintain their promising from.
Adrian linked up with the free-scoring Colombian Radamel Falcao to devastating effect as Atletico thrashed European champions Chelsea 4-1 to win the UEFA Super Cup. The club has also picked up four points from their opening two league games and are placed above cross-town rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga table.
"I'm very happy here. I have a few years left at Atletico Madrid. It's very important to continue to work every day, and be excited at every practice and every game," Sky Sports quoted Adrian as saying.
"The truth is that the whole team did really well against Chelsea, but now the important thing is that people rest and come back with their batteries recharged. You have to go little by little, as we have always done. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been at a high level, but we have to look at that, our team, and make this the best year possible," the forward added.
Atletico resume their league campaign after the international break by hosting Rayo Vallecano on 17 September.
