Elon Musk's Baby Mama Ashley St. Clair Turns on X, Warns His 'Deliberate Division' Could Get Worse

Former conservative influencer Ashley St Clair has criticised Elon Musk's use of X, claiming the platform is creating 'deliberate division' with potentially serious real-world consequences. Speaking at the Venice Film Festival, she warned that the effects could become worse without greater regulation or intervention.

St Clair's comments came during the premiere of Alex Gibney's nearly four-hour documentary Musk, in which she discusses her relationship with the billionaire. She also claimed Musk told her he wanted a 'legion of children before the civil war' and said she rejected a proposed $40m (£30.8m) non-disclosure agreement linked to their relationship.

St Clair, 28, shares a son, Romulus, with Musk and is involved in a custody dispute with him. She said she participated in the documentary because she wanted to set an example for her children by speaking publicly about what she believes to be the truth.

St Clair Warns About Musk's Influence on X

St Clair said Musk was using X to amplify political messages and contribute to what she described as 'deliberate division'. She argued that his activity on the platform was creating effects beyond social media and could become more serious without regulation.

Her comments followed Musk's posts about political developments in Germany, including his response to the Alternative für Deutschland's strong performance in the 6 September state elections in Saxony-Anhalt. St Clair, who previously supported right-wing causes, said she now regretted aspects of her former political activism and wanted to challenge what she considers the consequences of Musk's online activity.

Gibney's documentary examines Musk's political influence alongside his business career and views on population decline and civilisational collapse. Musk has previously written on X that a 'collapsing birth rate' was the 'biggest danger civilization faces'.

Musk's 'Legion of Children' Comment

St Clair said Musk sent her a text message before the birth of their son in which he said he wanted a 'legion of children before the civil war'. She said the comment formed part of their discussions about having children and is included in the documentary's examination of Musk's views on population growth.

St Clair also claimed she was offered $40m to remain silent about her relationship with Musk. She said the proposed arrangement included a $15m (£11m) lump sum and a $100,000 (£73,900) monthly payment.

She previously said Musk instructed his wealth manager Jared Birchall to arrange $15m for a home and capital before discussions developed into a proposed non-disclosure agreement. St Clair said she declined the arrangement and instead agreed to participate in Gibney's film.

Documentary Examines Musk's Family and Politics

The documentary also features Musk's first wife, Justine Musk, who alleges that he referred to the mothers of his children as 'breeders' and considered them interchangeable. She also recalled Musk telling her during their wedding dance in 2000 that he was the 'alpha' in their marriage. The claims are presented as part of the film's examination of Musk's personal relationships.

Gibney filmed the documentary over three years and examines Musk's rise from technology entrepreneur to a major figure in business, politics and social media. Musk did not participate in the film and has criticised it as a 'hit piece'. Gibney has defended his approach, saying he initially admired Musk but followed the evidence gathered during production.

The film's release comes as St Clair and Musk remain involved in a custody dispute over their son. St Clair's comments in Venice link her criticism of Musk's activity on X with wider concerns about his political influence and their relationship. The documentary is scheduled for theatrical release in the US on 16 October.
