ASUS PadFone 2: Packaging Reveals 4.7-Inch Display, 13MP Camera, Quad-Core S4 Pro Processor, 2GB of RAM

The upcoming Asus PadFone 2's specs seem to have surfaced through a leaked packaging. The unannounced device made its appearance recently in an AnTuTu benchmark database that revealed the PadFone 2 running Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) could feature quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM and CPU operating frequency at 1512MHz.

A packaging photo has been posted on Mobile01 under a thread titled "Padfone 2 specifications exposed". It reveals the specs of the upcoming PadFone 2 in detail. According to the leaked packaging, the PadFone 2 is expected to sport a 4.7in Super IPS + HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It could come with a dimension of 137.9 x 68.9 x 9mm and may weigh 135g.

The leaked photo reveals that it could be powered by a Qualcomm 8064 quad-core clocked at 1.5GHz, in addition packing 2GB of RAM. The PadFone 2 might have an impressive 13 megapixel rear-facing camera featuring auto-focus, LED flash, zero shutter lag, full HD recording and could sport a front-facing camera featuring 1.2 megapixel.

It is expected to feature WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro-USB 2.0 with MHL. It could support DC-HSPA+, WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 and Edge/GPRS, GSM E 850/900/1800/1900. The device is said to come with a 2140mAh Li-Ion battery.

Until now, the device was speculated to be introduced at CES, while recent reports reveal the launch date of the PadFone 2. TuttoAndroid reports the Asus has sent out invites stating "Save the date" which reveals the launch date for the PadFone 2 has been scheduled to 16 October at Milan and Taipei.

Asus unveiled its PadFone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012. It features an optional PadFone station featuring a 10.1in display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. The PadFone comes with internal storage options of 16/32/64GB and a microSD card slot with an additional memory space up to 32GB.
