Asus has announced that the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 tablet will be launched in the UK in August.
The company has not revealed the exact date of release, while Asus representatives informed The Inquirer claiming "It will be released at some time in August, I can't tell you for sure the exact day, but it will be the end of the month."
The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in January. The tablet runs on Google's latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It features a 10.1in Super IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. It includes a Corning Gorilla glass and Asus Waveshare user interface.
It is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 3 (T33) chipset with the quad-core 1.6GHz processor. It ships 1GB of RAM. In terms of memory, the device includes internal storage options of 32/64GB. It has a microSD card slot with an additional memory space of 32GB.
It features a rear-facing camera of eight megapixel with auto-focus and LED flash. Users can record video of 1080p quality. It includes a secondary camera of two megapixel for video calling. In terms of battery life, the device can last up to 9.5 hours on a single charge and if the user needs more the device can be fitted into the keyboard dock to obtain another five hours of battery life.
The AnandTech website has reported benchmark tests for the tablet. It is reported that the T33 is the fastest SoC that runs at a higher voltage to hit higher clock speeds. The CPU clocks are expected to reach 1.7GHz with a single core active or 1.6GHz otherwise. "ASUS continues to expose control over the CPU governer through its Performance, Balanced and Power Saving modes exposed in ICS," explains AnandTech.
In the SunSpider JavaScript Benchmark the lower score is considered to be better, while in the Rightware BrowserMark the higher is better. The Tegra 3 chipset reportedly has a single channel memory interface and the users could experience smooth scrolling because if the increase in its bandwidth.
