Spanish singer Bad Gyal has become the target of online jokes from Taylor Swift fans after declaring she would reject even a hypothetical $3 million (£2.3 million) collaboration with the pop superstar. Her remarks were made during a promotional appearance in Argentina's Fort Night Show, discussed in reports on 15 October.

In the interview, the 29-year-old compared Swift's music to unseasoned chicken, and many Swifties took offence. Her comments quickly reached Reddit, where users questioned both the offer and whether Swift would ever make it.

Who Is Bad Gyal?

Born Alba Farelo i Solé in Vilassar de Mar, near Barcelona, on 7 March 1997, Bad Gyal is a Catalan singer known for reggaeton, dancehall and Latin urban music. Her breakthrough came in 2016 with Pai, a Catalan-language reworking of Rihanna and Drake's Work. She subsequently released the projects Slow Wine and Worldwide Angel before signing with Interscope Records in 2019.

Her debut studio album, La Joia, topped Spain's albums chart in 2024, while her second album, Más Cara, arrived in 2026. She has also received Latin Grammy nominations. Her discography shows that she has previously collaborated with Rauw Alejandro, Young Miko and Tokischa, making her firm stance on Swift especially noticeable.

Music runs in her family. Her father, Eduard Farelo, is an actor and voice performer, while her younger sister Irma records under the name Mushkaa.

Why She Rejected the Hypothetical Offer

Speaking to Marta Fort on Blender's Fort Night Show during promotional appearances in Argentina, Bad Gyal was asked which musicians she would refuse to work with. She chose Swift, imagining an Alice in Wonderland scenario in which someone offered her three million euros or dollars to record together.

'I wouldn't do it,' she said, explaining that she did not identify with Swift's ideas or musical style.

She then turned to food metaphors. Referring to internet memes, Bad Gyal likened Swift's songs to a 'stale boiled egg' and 'a dry chicken without spices', adding that it lacked salt and oil.

She stressed that she was not trying to start a feud. She said she deliberately picked a superstar she was unlikely to encounter, rather than somebody she might meet professionally.

Her collaboration wish list looked different: she expressed enthusiasm for Madonna and openness to Argentine performers Tini Stoessel and Lali Espósito.

Swift Fans Respond Online

The remarks gave Reddit users plenty to work with, particularly because no such offer had ever been made. 'I don't know who Bad Gyal is ... but I'm sure that she will never be forced to make this tough choice,' one commenter joked.

Another suggested a higher fee, 'Ok, but consider this: 4 MILLION.' A third wrote, 'true or not its crazy thing to say publicly when thats an offer that will never be on the table.'

Others took aim at her music, while some agreed with her assessment of Swift. One user replied, 'I dunno who she is, but she's not wrong.'

The reaction was hardly unanimous, but the imaginary collaboration has generated a very real argument. Neither singer has announced any plans to record together.
