With just days to go before the Olympic Games start, Rio de Janeiro is making the final preparations before it hosts the biggest multi-sport event in the world. One million tourists are expected to arrive in Rio for the Olympic Games, half from other regions in Brazil and half from abroad. There's much more than just sport to keep the visitors occupied.

Attractions such as the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf mountain are expected to soar in popularity during August and September. The beach is a way of life in Rio, where summer temperatures can surpass 40° celsius (104° fahrenheit). Ipanema and Copacabana offer an escape from the chaotic metropolis of six million people.
