After dating for almost five years, Sheldon and Amy will spend their first night together in The Big Bang Theory season 9 fall finale episode. Emmy award winner Bob Newhart returns as Sheldon's Obi-Wan Kenobi in episode 10 titled, The Opening Night Excitation, which airs next Thursday, 17 December at 8pm EST on CBS.
According to the synopsis for episode 11, "After more than five years of dating, Sheldon and Amy spend their first night together. Also, Leonard, Wolowitz, and Koothrappali must decide who will take their extra Star Wars movie ticket, on The Big Bang Theory."
In the last episode, Sheldon finally realises that he is still in love with Amy after the song struck in his head turns out to be about Amy. They rekindle their romance with a long kiss by the end of the episode.
According to a leaked report, Sheldon will follow Professor Proton's advice and decide to skip the premiere of Star Wars The Force Awakens movie, to be with Amy on her birthday. Sheldon's gives the ultimate gift for Amy which is to finally consummate their relationship.
A new promo released shows Penny and Bernadatte telling Amy that Sheldon is ready to be physical with her. Amy is shocked and happy to hear the big news and states, " I don't know what to say." Bernadatte and Amy says that they are happy for her. The promo ends with two in bed wearing their nightdress as they awkwardly greet each other.

Actor Jim Parson teases Sheldon and Amy's intimate scenes an interview with ET Online. The actor joked: "Putting the 'bang' into the theory, I guess."
Parsons also revealed that he was surprised to read the script. "I was very surprised. But then I read it, and it seemed absolutely the right time," he admitted. Speaking of the intimate scene, the four-times Emmy winner noted: "It was fun to act. It wasn't hard to act."
Mayim Bialik who plays Amy said: "I was kind of nervous when I first saw where it was going — that it was going to feel voyeuristic or kind of icky, but it's very tender. It's very sweet."
