Birmingham Teaching Staff Arrested for Extreme Pornography Offences
Two teachers and a teaching assistant in Birmingham have been arrested on suspicion of possession of extreme pornography.
West Midlands Police said the men were arrested at their homes in Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
A 37-year-old teacher works at Park View School while a 32-year-old teacher and teaching assistant, 36, are from Golden Hillock School.
The men have now been bailed until early April after being held for questioning.
A police spokesman said: "One man is employed at Park View School and the other two men at Golden Hillock School in Birmingham.
"Their management have been notified as well as the Department for Education. Both continue to support the police investigation."
Following the arrests, the Park View Educational Trust, which runs both academies, stressed the material did not involve children.
It issued a statement: "We are extremely concerned to learn about the arrests of three teaching staff employed by the Park View Educational Trust.
"The police have informed us that the arrests are in connection with suspicion of possession of extreme pornography.
"While the nature of the pornography is described as extreme there is absolutely no suggestion from the police that it involved minors.
"We would like to reassure parents that we are co-operating fully with the police to support their investigations into individuals at both schools."
