Black Metal Fan Kills Surrender of Divinity Singer 'For Not Being Satanic Enough'
Fan claims he stabbed Thai metal singer Samong Traisattha to death for 'tarnishing' Satanism
A self-proclaimed Satanist has claimed that he murdered the lead singer of a Thai black metal band for band for "tarnishing" Satanism.
Samong Traisattha, the 36-year-old lead singer with Surrender of Divinity, was found stabbed to death at his home on 8 January.
Samong's wife, Jaruvan Surapol, 34, told police he was killed by Prakarn Harnphanbusakorn, a fan of the band who went to their house to drink with the singer and print off promotional T-shirts.
She claimed that when she returned to the room after she put her child to bed, she found her husband in a pool of blood and Prakarn gone. Police said that the frontman, also known as Avaejee, was stabbed more than 30 times in a frenzied attack.
A few days after the killing, a Facebook user who goes by the name of Maleficent Meditation, who police believe to be an alias of Prakarn, claimed to have been responsible for the murder and posted photos of the bloodied crime scene on his page.
In a long-worded confession, he wrote: "I have intended to end my life since I was 25. Because I'll die eventually, I want to drag down those who tarnish Satanism with me. But I refrained from killing women and children.
"I have more respect for devoted Buddhists, Christians and Muslims than those who call themselves Satanists without knowing anything about it.
"If I did not kill him, I'm sure he would be murdered by someone else later."
Maleficent Meditation dismissed suggestions that he was a fan of the band and ended the post with "Hail Satan".
Surrender Of Divinity issued a statement on their official website saying: "Avajee, our Black Vomitor/Bass Thunder and most importantly our blood-brother has passed away by a cruel murderer.
"No words can express about this lost in our horde. Have a rest down there brother! May our blackest flames be blazing bright forever!"
