BlackBerry Priv goes on pre-order in UK
The BlackBerry Priv has just been listed for pre-order in the UK. The Canadian company is expected to launch the new smartphone in the coming weeks.
As per the pre-order listing on London-based retailer Carphone Warehouse, the Android running BlackBerry Priv will be available with a SIM-free price tag of £579 ($894). Customers can also go for a 'pay monthly' option by paying £49 or can sign up with O2 to get the smartphone for £59 a month along with a provided tariff plan.
Although BlackBerry has not yet revealed any details about the availability of the Priv, the retailer is claiming that the smartphone will hit stores starting 6 November. Also, it reveals all the key specifications and features of the upcoming smartphone.
Carphone Warehouse's site shows that the BlackBerry Priv features a 5.4in dual-curved AMOLED display with 2560x1440 pixels resolution. In addition, there is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, Schneider-Kreuznach certified 18MP primary camera sensor and a 3,410mAh battery. The smartphone has a physical slider BlackBerry keyboard with the company's proprietary SmartSlide technology.
Furthermore, the site confirms that the BlackBerry Priv will be the company's first pure Android smartphone, running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. The smartphone additionally has DTEK warning system app from BlackBerry to deliver enhanced security on top of Google's open-source Android operating system.
