Blood moon and meteor strike spark end of the world fears
A blood moon at the end of September has some minority Christian groups claiming it will bring an apocalyptic meteor strike that could ring in the end of the world. The fourth blood moon is expected to arrive on 28 September.
The blood moon prophecy is built around the belief that an ongoing lunar tetrad – four consecutive lunar eclipses in a row, that started since the April 2014 lunar eclipse, are a sign of the world coming to an end.
Several passages have been quoted from the Bible to 'support' the lunar tetrad apocalypse idea. "The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord," reads Act 2:20 in Bible.
Meanwhile, Nasa has rejected the possibility of a meteor strike saying there is no likelihood of an asteroid heading towards Earth. "In fact, as best as we can tell, no large object is likely to strike the Earth any time in the next several hundred years," said a Nasa spokesperson, reported Yahoo News.
