Overview
Djokovic starts the BNP Paribas Open from the second round after the Serbian was handed a bye as being one of the star attractions of the competition. He will play his first match at Indian Wells on Sunday.
The 26-year-old has won the event twice in 2008 and 2011. After winning the competition with a gap of three years, one need to wait and see if he would lift the title next Sunday.
His opponent, Hanescu made it to the second round of the BNP Paribas Open after coming out victorious against Stephane Robert in the first round clash earlier this week. The Romanian defeated the Frenchman in a three set thriller.
The first set saw Hanescu win 7-5 before losing the second one 3-6. However, he was successful in winning the deciding set 6-4 which helped me to progress to the second round of the competition.
Head-To-Head
Djokovic has a comfortable 6-0 lead over Hanescu in overall meetings. The pair have met at two grand slam events, with the world No 2 coming out victories in both occasions.
