Brazilian Student Killed by Stun Gun in Australia
Robert Laudisio a 21-year-old Brazilian student living in Sydney was chased by police, and tasered with a stun gun which resulted in his death. The incident happened after he allegedly stole a packet of biscuits from a convenience store.
His body is lying on the street covered by a blanket and in the background the shops can be clearly seen where the incident happened.
Chief Commissioner Malcolm Lanyon said that the use of Taser guns was well regulated within the New South Wales police force.
(SOUNDBITE) ASSISTANT POLICE COMMISSIONER MALCOM LANYON SAYING:
"I think the community and the police rightly expect there is transparency in the use of tasers and we welcome the Ombudsman's role."
