Britain boosts aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan
The British International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell visited the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan where droves of Syrians arrive each day, escaping the conflict back over the border.
He heard stories of people fleeing in the dead of the night from Jordan, Lebanon, turkey and Iraq with just the shirts on their backs. The cabinet minister pledged major financial support from the UK.
The new funding will go into emergency food rations, drinking water and sanitation, and psychological support, including for mothers and children caught up in the violence. He confirmed that Britain is committed to helping those less fortunate.
